October 2, 2008 Comments off

Thanks for sticking with us, folks! I appreciate you coming back for Part Two of the Balitc & Mediterranean response to the 2008 Vice Presidential Debate! Let’s get to it…

The next topic Gwen Ifill (“Ifill” hereafter) threw out to the candidates was also with regard to the current economic crisis. She asked:

Sen. Biden, how, as vice president, would you work to shrink this gap of polarization which has sprung up in Washington, which you both have spoken about here tonight?

Gaffes from Before the 2008 Vice Presidential Debate

October 2, 2008 1 comment

If you’re just lookin’ for a list of Sara Palin’s gaffes or Joe Biden’s gaffes from before the 2008 Vice Presidential Debate, you can find them by following those links. Should be interesting to look at those, if you’re into the whole “GOTCHA” politics thing. Personally, I’m not. That’s why I didn’t enjoy the Katie Couric and Charlie Gibson interviews with Sarah Palin… but I digress. I just thought I’d link these while I’m working on Part Two of the B&M response to the debate.

It would be especially interesting to note how many of those gaffes, if any, were used by either party as “quotes” (i.e. – ammunition vs. their opponent) in the debate.

Edit: If you’d like a transcript of the debate, in case you missed it, or just want to reference the points I’ll be making, you can get that by simply clicking here.

Sarah Palin – and I don’t know if anyone else heard or picked up on this, since I haven’t yet been listening to much of the pundits’ commentary on TV – asked Joe Biden before they even went behind their podiums, “Can I call you ‘Joe’?” I thought that was respectful, and it was wise, as much has been made of Obama’s candor with respect (no pun intended) to John McCain in the first Presidential Debate.

Due to restrictions on WordPress.com hosting, I can’t embed this video directly on the page, but you should definitely take a look at it. Bill O’Reilly really took Barney Frank to task over his involvement in the Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac debacle. Check it out.

EDIT: It’s on YouTube, now, of course… (10/11/2008)
